What is SW-PBS?
SW - PBS (School-Wide Positive Behavior Supports) is a process for creating safer and more effective schools. PBS is a systems approach to enhancing the capacity of schools to educate all children by developing research-based, school wide and classroom discipline systems. The process focuses on improving a school's ability to teach and support positive behavior for all students. Rather than a prescribed program, PBS provides systems for schools to design, implement and evaluate effective school-wide classroom, non-classroom and student specific discipline plans. PBS is not a program or a curriculum. It is a team-based process for systemic problem solving, planning and evaluation. It is an approach to creating an environment within which school-based teams of educators are trained.
What does SW-PBS mean at Rebecca Boone Elementary School?
*Be Safe * Be Respectful * Be Responsible
Our goal is to create a positive learning environment where clear expectations have been taught, are reinforced and are continuously celebrated. The SW -PBS program is based upon our philosophy of recognizing positive contributions of students.
SW-PBS means that all staff members take responsibility to TEACH positive behavior expectations to students.
SW-PBS means that students will know exactly what is expected of them in all settings. Students who take responsibility to behave positively will be recognized and rewarded in a variety of ways. Students will also know exactly what consequences will result when they choose NOT to meet the school-wide expectations. A systematic approach to support students is in place so all students may experience academic and social success at school.
